Resiliency
Resiliency – The Power of One
Throughout our life, we will face challenges and obstacles – how we face these times can have a profound affect on us and shape how we handle adversity in the future. Resiliency is a skill that we can develop early in our lives and take with us on our journey. It involves coping skills that we can use to help us through the most challenging of times that we may face in school settings, our personal lives, or in our employment. Resiliency involves getting to know yourself. It means learning how to support yourself and how to “keep going” when times are tough or we have road blocks along the way.
Learning how to be resilient can be an essential tool in learning how to adapt to new situations such as starting a new job or college. This includes supporting ourselves but also learning how to reach out for help and assistance from others when needed. Resiliency also includes learning about our strengths and areas that we may need to work on – developing a good sense of self and how to depend our ourselves. It helps us learn how to navigate challenges by giving us a toolkit to use when life’s up’s and downs occur and helping us to keep on track.
